Cozumel: Crystal Palace
CEO and I grabbed a taxi up to see OY and LT and babies family at the Crystal Palace in Cozumel. All-inclusive, baby! (frankly, the all-inclusive-thing would be nice to keep my own parents comfy). Always delightful to spend time with them.
Sam Altman was fired by OpenAI’s board today. Greg Brockman is resigning in protest (well, they did strip his board seat), along with several other high-ranking. Gossip points towards conflict between Sutskever and Altman, where Ilya advocated slow growth and got Machiavellian with leadership.
…Cozumel: Solo Ride and Alberto's
CEO is stretching with funny leg V’s on the bed; we’re staying in Cozumel for the week. Inside mid-day to escape the sun and humid-exhalation. Tonight, riding out to Alberto’s for an early dinner and beach.
Rode a 40mi loop around the island. My butt and feet continue to be hotspots for these longer rides. Garmin’s “performance condition” evaluation was a few points (wtf’s a point?) but actually improved throughout the ride. Adapting to the heat? First few days of 80% humidity on 85℉ melts me.

Didn’t lift last week in favor of beating up my bike, so coming in fresh today.
After workout notes: my stomach isn’t feeling great after that workout, and I napped for like 4h mid-day. Feeling fine this evening, but could be shrugging something off.

Shoulders + Bikepacking Prep
Went to the dentist for my 3mo cleaning recall, looking better. Gotta nail down the new habits: 1) mouth guard, 2) dental pick, 3) uber floss.
Shoulders
My shoulders felt a bit sore from yesterday’s chest lifting + the cycling (lesson: don’t put them back-to-back), so going low weight / high reps today. Curious if that’ll help with overall 1RMs after a few pushes.
Front raise felt rough, so cut a set.

Uvas Jog
Uvas Rd is closed for bridge construction through the 14th, i.e. few cars. Took a light Z2 jog/walk at like 14min miles – could feel the sore muscles from the last two days of riding.
