Drove from Arcata back home to Morgan Hill. Snow on the 101 pass near Willits, and stopped with the parents to nom and nab Curie.

Open wheel racing openers abound today. Watched the Bahrain F1 season opener this morning with OR and GR – not a particularly exciting race, but a rich modern nostalgia to watch with that crew. Drove home that OR and BRK are true friends. Godlonso is looking to be the one to take it to RBR, but he’s a mile off their pace. Whelp, it took far longer to get up than I’d expected, into Eureka around 11p. Lodged in a Best Western for the night (the late staff were funny and threw some shade on the Best Western in Arcata).

Arcata feels to be thriving. Some of the classic restaurants turned over (Folie Deuce, etc.) On the bright side, one of the plaza bars turned over into a thrift store.

Took the drive up Fickle Hill and then back to Old Arcata Rd by Fresh Pond in the Mazda 3. I mention the car, because the pass had a few ft of snow. The road itself was [mostly] clear, incredibly beautiful / fun loop.

Heading up to Humboldt to visit OR & fam today! Getting in likely around 10p tonight (5h30min drive, taking off after 3p), will have to send them a heads up. CO and I will stop in for dinner with my parents on the way up, they’ll likely be in Novato. Genuinely looking forward to the friends, family, drive, and redwoods.

Skipped cycling for legs. Will be traveling this weekend, so the cycling dry cycle will continue for a couple of days.. Super excited to go for a jog in the woods instead up in Humboldt – haven’t run in awhile so 5mi would be solid AF.

The lunges and squats in the legs sets are redundant, and I’m unable to do the one after the other. An adductor or abductor lift would sub in well and provide breadth, so next time I’ll start with lunges and swap out the squat with the Cossack variation.

Today is OR’s birthday! And, would you know, I’m actually driving the 5h30m to see him this weekend. The reason was baby GR as opposed to said birthday, but it doubles up well. And means, all the presents!!! CO picked up a present for GR (a maniacal & chimerical stuffie that would be horrifying if GR wasn’t pre-senses). I eye-spied about the house for OR only to come up with the leather-bound Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson – it’s a favorite of mine, he loves it, and it’ll be beautiful in his library. That one is a bit tough to give away, but doesn’t that make it a better gift?
